Gratz Studio provides a comprehensive scope of design services for architects, interior designers, developers, general contractors, and their clients.
This past year Gratz completed the fabrication of two monumental bronze screens for the UBS Bank lobby at 499 Park Ave in New York City. The 12 foot wide by 23 foot high architectural screens, made of 500 interlocking bronze squares, combine to create a discreet private banking enclave within the lobby. They also visually frame the geometry and carved stone façade of the Waldorf Astoria, across 49th Street.
Current projects include the fabrication of ceiling panels for the new Museum of Art & Design at New York City’s Columbus Circle. The 25,000 brass discs are made into draped curtains, which provide a visual and acoustic presence for the auditorium ceiling.
Gratz Studio is also preparing to install a huge stainless steel and glass “Flagscape” for Bank of America’s new headquarters at One Bryant Park in New York City. The design development and prototyping were done in collaboration with the Bank of America’s branding division. The larger than life corporate logo is designed to hang as a sculpture high above the lobby floor.
Already Gratz Studio has been busy working on 'Iron Age' and 'Bronze Age'; site specific screen dividers on the exterior of a large modern house. The clients requested material and fabrication based design concepts that would highlight and modulate the austere façade of the glass and metal minimalist structure. Gratz Studio principal David Rosencrans and associate architect Dana Karwas worked closely together to develop the screens. The 'Bronze Age' and 'Iron Age' screens are available as limited edition sculptures.
